Workshop on Reproductive Health for Population Welfare Program

 
Workshop overview

 

The workshop has been specially organized in response to a request received from the Ministry of Population Welfare (MPW), Islamabad. It is scheduled for December 3 to 8, 2007 at the CPSP Karachi.

 

The workshop is planned as an intensive, one week (6-day) learning opportunity for physicians which include those responsible for provision of services, management, or training and education in the national Population Welfare Program.

 

About 15 participants are expected to attend.

 

The workshop is focused on the following.

·        Updated concepts in RH

·        Enhance competency to manage MCH problems at the primary level care including early diagnosis and timely referral

·        Promote medical ethics in RH

·        Facilitate application of knowledge acquired to participant’s own responsibilities

 

Each session has its own specific objectives.

 

Topics include

  • Safe motherhood;
  • Management of abortion;
  • Reproductive tract infections;
  • Reproductive tract malignancy;
  • Menopause and HRT;
  • Perinatal and newborn care;
  • Infant and child health;
  • Adolescent health;
  • Sub-fertility;
  • Psychosocial aspect of RH;
  • Ethical issues in RH; and
  • RH Indicators.          

 

Well known professors and subject specialists associated with a number of medical teaching/training institutions have been invited as facilitators to conduct various sessions of the workshop.

 

The approach of the workshop is participatory, based on principles of adult, experiential learning, and focused on promoting interaction between participants and facilitators. Opportunity for in depth discussion will be provided as well as for expression of the participant’s own views based on job related and personally acquired experience.

 

The methodology of the workshop remains a combination of

  • Problem solving exercises and
  • Small and large group discussions.

 

At the conclusion of the workshop a certificate will be awarded to each participant.
