LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER

 

Learning material, meticulously prepared by experts in their respective fields of medicine, are made available to students in the Learning Resources Centre (LRC). This area has proved to be a much desired spot for postgraduate study, enabling the students to expand their knowledge and skills.

An important component of the LRC is the video study facility together with audio cassettes and recordings which give detailed instructions and study aids to students. The students may duplicate these cassettes if they so wish. Educational programmes are available to postgraduate students on video cassettes for individual self-learning. In the photographic section projection, slides and other photographic teaching and learning materials are prepared.

The LRC, at present, has 215 tape slide programmes and 381 films on video cassettes, covering different aspects of medicine. The collection includes demonstration of clinical skills and various surgical procedures as well.
This section is equipped with Audio and Video Cassettes, a Histology Laboratory and a Histology demonstration room. LRC- 1 has 321 videos cassettes which include:

Carrels have been provided for individual study. In these carrels equipment for display of video and slides programmes are provided which can be studied here.

Facilities for study of gross anatomy are also provided. Anatomical models with atlases and video programs showing step-by-step dissections are available to individual students for self-study. Anatomical models, articulated skeletons, 200 individual bones and 58 reference books on gross Anatomy are also available in this section.

 

ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT

i) Courses

The Department takes part in teaching the FCPS-I course the major component of which is anatomy. The subject of anatomy is given full coverage in the lectures. Teachers and specialists from other colleges are invited to facilitate the students benefit from their extensive experience.

ii) Preparation of learning material

Projection, slides and other photographic teaching and learning materials are prepared by Photographic Section.

iii) Provision of Video Study Facility

Detailed instructions and study aid is provided to students. Educational programmes are available to postgraduate students on audio-visual cassettes. Video and Audio cassette recording facility is also available in LRC.

Entry into LRC

The LRC is open to all the doctors even those who are not registered for courses in the College. The timing for LRC is from 9.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on all week days. The LRC has proved to be a popular facility. Entry in LRC is regulated by a pass issued by the College Administration on payment of a fee of Rs. 200/=.
