The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan offers Fellowship training in 53 disciplines and Membership in 10. The College has discontinued its Membership diploma program and replaced it with a 2-year College diploma, DCPS, which is being offered in 14 disciplines. The first examination of DCPS will be held in 2005.
The duration of the FCPS training varies from 3-5 years depending upon the specialties chosen. Competency based curricula have been developed for each discipline by the relevant faculties. More than 5500 training slots have been awarded in 125 CPSP accredited medical institutions throughout the country. The College critically evaluates the standard and facilities available in these institutions to ensure high quality training for its trainees.

In order to strengthen trainees’ professional skills and training program, CPSP holds certain workshops in which their participation is mandatory and a pre-requisite for appearing in the examination. These workshops are: Basic Surgical Skills, Research Methodology, Biostatistics & Dissertation Writing, Communication Skills and Introduction to Computer and Internet. A trainee, completing successful training in hospital, appear in his/her final examination and upon passing the examination is awarded Fellowship/ diploma of the College and granted the status of specialists.
