REGISTRAR DEPARTMENT

 

The Department of Registrar is authorized by the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan to accredit the units/institutions for imparting training leading to DCPS/FCPS in 53 different disciplines, through out the country and abroad.

Activities

    • Preparation of rules and regulations for accreditation of units/institutions in the light of recommendations by the respective faculties. At present following booklet is available namely:-

    "Guide to accreditation of training programmes - Regulations, Standards, and Procedures, September 2004”


    • Collection of feed back preferably from the concerned Faculties to update the rules and regulations for accreditation of units/institutions.
    • In consultation with the faculties concerned, preparation of criteria for consideration of accreditation for training leading to DCPS/FCPS.
    • Preparation of Application Proformae for accreditation of units/institutions.
    The previous accreditation proformae hasreplaced by modified (a). Abstract Proforma (for institutional data) and (b). Specialty Specific Forms for units detailed information.
    • Receipt of initial application proforma from institutions for imparting training leading to DCPS/FCPS.
    • Detailed scrutiny of the application proforma to ascertain whether the institute fulfills all the requirements of the laid down criteria for accreditation.
    • To make sure that each and every accredited unit fills the UNDERTAKING to strictly abide by the of rules and regulations framed in this context, from time to time.
    • Arrange to conduct physical inspection of units and place the recommendations of the Inspection Team to the members of the Executive Committee or Council, for final approval.
    • To review the status of accredited units which are found violating the rules and regulations.
    • Refer the cases for accreditation of units without inspection to Reference/Executive/Council for approval.
    • To provide guidance and support to postgraduate training institutions in maintaining and improving their facilities and programs.
    • To review the accreditation status of units/institutions every after 3-4 years. The review may include submission of new proforma, re-visit, or any other process to the satisfaction of the Accreditation Committee.
    • To maintain uptodate record of accredited units/institution.

Personnel:

The department consists of, Registrar, Deputy Manager Admin, Registrar Assistant, Computer Operator & Office Boy.

Location:
The Department has shifted to Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL) Building within the CPSP premises, Karachi.
Achievement:
Uptil July 2005, we have accredited 763 units in various disciplines for imparting training leading to DCPS/FCPS.
