College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan

Prof. Zafar Ullah Chaudhry, President CPSP along with Mr. Salim Akhter Abhan, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Dr. Fayyaz Ranjha, Director General, Ministry of Health unfurled and hoisted the maroon colored flag of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan and the flag of Pakistan at CPSP National Headquarters, Karachi at 9 am on 7th January 2012. This marked the initiation of Golden Jubilee celebrations of the College for the whole year of 2012.

College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan was established through a charter by an Ordinance of the then Federal Government on 12th May 1962. This charter founded an institution that not only has lasted but flourished and blossomed into one that has been educating, building capacity, transferring skills and laying down a stepping stone of research through mandatory dissertations or articles in lieu thereof, for thousands of postgraduate doctors and thus turning them into specialists of their respectively chosen fields.

After the flag hoisting ceremony, the President, addressing the present Councilors and the Headquarters’ staff, thanked them for joining him in launching the celebrations. The President paid tributes to all those who have served this great institution in the past and are serving presently, tirelessly and with a missionary zeal. “All those, right from Gen. Burki downwards, who have contributed even a brick, are worthy to be praised and remembered with dignity, as they gave their best to build this great institution which is training thousands of specialists who are healing the sick and the ailing within the country and abroad” said the president.

The President thanked the Secretary and Director General Health for their presence at the occasion and requested Dr. Ranjha to kindly recite few verses from the Holy Koran for this important occasion.

The flag hoisting ceremony concluded with a somber resolve to continue working even on the day of the Golden Jubilee celebrations initiation.
