I am sure this international medical conference will not only bring good name to the College but also enhance the expertise of the participants by sharing and discussing the different issues of medical profession across the globe”, said Prof. Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Punjab Provincial Minister for Health and Chief Guest while addressing the participants of Inaugural session of International Medical Conference organized as part of Charter Day celebrations on Friday, 5th October 2018 at Lahore Regional Center.

Prof. Dr. Yasmin Rashid expressed confidence that foreign delegates would share their experiences with Pakistani doctors to further explore avenues in this profession.

The Minister for Health pointed out that the participation of foreign delegates is an evidence that Pakistan is a peace loving country working for the welfare of human beings. She went on to inform that the new Government of Punjab is determined to provide medical facilities to the masses at their doorsteps as per the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Chief Minister of Punjab.

Earlier, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal in his welcome address thanked Prof. Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Minister for Health, Punjab, for sparing some of her precious time for gracing this conference as Chief Guest He also thanked the foreign delegates and participants of the seminar and hoped that there will be a great exchange of experiences and discussions amongst the participants of conference. State of the art lectures Friday 5th October 2018

There were two state of the art lectures one by Prof. Zafar Ullah Chaudhry, President, CPSP on ‘Role and Scope of CBME in Residency Programme’ and the second one by Prof. John Kortbeek on ‘CBME experience of Canada’.

These were followed by Thematic Session comprising:

  •  Implementation of CBME by Dr. Gominda Ponnamperuma
  •  Monitoring of CBME by Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal
  •  Expanding the Horizon of CMBE: the Pygmalion Kiss by Prof. Muwadat H. Rana
  •  Faculty Development by Prof. Sina Ecran
  •  Role of Simulation in CBME by Dr. Masood Javed

The session was followed by a panel discussion on Implementing CBME. The panellists included Australian Family Physicians, Chinese and other foreign delegates, Prof. Muhammad Amjad and Prof. Javed Raza Gardezi. Prof. Muhammad Tayyab, Councillor CPSP acted as Moderator, while concluding remarks were given by Prof. Zafar Ullah Chaudhry, President CPSP. ATLS 10th Edition Rollout in Pakistan was also organized on 5th October, 2018. Prof. John Kortbeek was the Chief Guest of the Rollout. The faculty comprised Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja & Dr. Sirajul Haque Sheikh. Prof. Abrar Ashraf Ali was the focal person of Rollout.

A Cardiology Hands on Workshop on TAVR and CTO was arranged at Mayo Hospital, Lahore on 5th October, 2018. Prof. Wu Yonjian & Dr. Zhaojiet facilitated the hands on workshop whereas Prof. Zubair Akram was the focal person for this activity.

10 years ATLS Celebration Dinner CPSP Regional Centre Lahore hosted the10 years ATLS Celebration Dinner in honour of foreign delegates. A large number of ATLS faculty members, heads of medical institutions, senior professors, fellows and CPSP approved supervisors in the specialty of Surgery from across the province of Punjab attended the dinner.

Pre-Conference workshops and Seminar on Family Medicine Thursday 4th October 2018

Following Pre-Conference workshops were held on Thursday 4th October 2018

  •  Prof. Waris Farooqa facilitated a workshop on Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS)
  •  Prof. Mowadat Rana conducted a workshop on Five Essential Quotients for a Caring Doctor
  •  Prof. Rukhsana Zuberi and Dr. Syeda Kauser Ali facilitated a workshop on Clinical Audit.

Seminar on Family Medicine

Followed by Pre-Conference workshops a seminar on Family Medicine was also held on Thursday 4th October 2018. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nizamuddin, Chairman, Punjab Higher Education Commission was the Chief Guest of the seminar and Prof. Javed Akram, Vice Chancellor of University of Health Sciences and Dr. Nima Saeed Abid, WHO Country head participated as Guests of Honour. In addition to local audience, the seminar was also attended by a delegation from Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners comprising Dr. Yusuf Ahmad, Dr. Majid Naeem Gondal, Dr. Naveed Mughal, Dr. Amir Gillani. Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Regional Director, delivered the welcome speech. All participants were given warm welcome.

  • Training of Family Medicine at community level
  • WHO Vision for scaling up Family Medicine

Post Conference Workshop on Satuday 6th October 2018

A post workshop on Work Place Based Assessment was conducted on 6th October 2018. The workshop was facilitated by Prof. Syed Asghar Naqi and Prof. Zahid Kamal.
